Pollard Drilling is a family-run borehole drilling company in Vryheid. This is who we are and what we stand for.
From the Free State to Vryheid
We started in October 1995 in the Free State. In January 1997 we moved to KwaZulu-Natal, and we've been based in Vryheid ever since.
The business is led by the family. Cleantha Pollard is our Director, Johan Pollard is our CEO, Tinie Pollard is our General Manager, and Elize Pollard looks after Bookkeeping and Finance. When you call or WhatsApp, you'll usually speak to Tinie.

Some of us have been here for all 31 years
Our team of 27 permanent staff is the real reason clients come back. People don't stay for decades at a company that doesn't look after them. Some of our team have been here since the start, including a father who works alongside his three sons, and three cousins are on the team as well.
Every job is done by a crew that knows the work and each other, and each of our two rigs has its own supervisor to answer for it.

Honest, and finished properly
We give honest advice, even when it means less work for us. We finish what we start, and we look after our staff. Nothing flashy, and no promises we can't keep, which is why we say it plainly: water is never guaranteed at any depth. We site before we drill to reduce the risk, and we tell you honestly what to expect.Water changes everything at home
Much of our work is village water schemes for rural communities without clean drinking water. We've built them for Innovation Africa around Hluhluwe, Nongoma, Vryheid and Matatiele.
For the households on those schemes, and especially the women, water has often meant a very long walk. Some have had to go down on their knees at a spring to fill a small bucket, or fetch water from a river. When a scheme is finished, the community is extremely thankful, and so are we. It's the part of the job we're proudest of.
